Polytetraflouroethylene (TFE) and Kynar are both on allocation.
TFE sheet products, PTFE (TFE) along with PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that is mined in Mongolia and China. The world demand for this mineral has increased significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and very low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilized throughout tons of purposes from non-stick fry pots and pans to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is a crucial raw material within the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and several refrigerants. This increasing amount of demand bundled with general shortage of raw materials is mainly responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double during the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to continue in the near future.
